Svinoya - Haroysund

We have had a lovely few days in Svinøya, a stunning little mooring away from it all, having only seen maybe 3 boats in the distance in the entire time we were there.
Midnight

We went ashore on Svinøya and had a little walk around, the ground highly forested and heath covered, we left with an infestation of ticks!! Ticks in Norway are known carriers of two diseases, but are much less common the further North you go. Unfortunately having not noticed the tick issue until after we had quite a task in checking over everything from clothes to bedding and mats. The joys!

We also went on a shopping trip by dinghy to Elnesvågen, the neighbouring town a few miles from where we were moored. The town is largely considered a drive threw town, on route to or from Molde, but has everything we needed and is quite a nice stopping place. One of the main things we were after was fishing lures, having been guided by Håvard, we had managed to catch fish borrowing his lure and so set about finding similar!

Heading back to the boat

With lure and some food bought we jumped back in the dinghy and headed back to the boat. Food in Norway is generally known for being quite expensive in comparison to the UK, but we have found that its possible to live quite cheaply if you look out for good deals, and many of the basics either are similar in price or some even cheaper than the UK. While basing meals around fish it should definitely be possible to keep shopping bills low.

At the mooring in Svinoya
As the evening approached we decided to head back to Harøysund, by 9pm we were shipshape and headed off from the mooring. A quiet time of night as far as shipping goes, so we didn't see many boats on the 10 mile journey back. The sea calmed as we made our way along the coast of Gossa, and turned in land at the entrance to Harøysund. Here we decided to stop for a moment and do a little fishing, catching our tomorrows lunch.
Where Englands gas comes from!

We tied up in Harøysund just before midnight and having finished a few bits aboard headed to bed around 2am. With the sky as bright as always we must get our curtains sorted, sleeping in full sun light doesn't come naturally!
Hurtigruten heading North

Today we will go a walk for a barbeque and have our fish, then maybe a walk in to Bud, this evening the weather is calming so we might well head out on the boat again.
