Atlantic Road

One of the things we really like about being on a boat doing the type of travelling that we are is that from day to day our home has new surroundings and views, one day we might look out the window to a marina the next to a stunning fjord. You might think that being onshore that we wouldn't have that effect but we do! Since we have been out of the water now for over two weeks there has been lots of changes in the yard, with many boats coming and going our neighbours and view changes often!

It looks like we might be getting back in the water tomorrow or soon anyway, while the pump is yet to arrive the fitting of this should be virtually the same afloat or ashore and so we will make room for other boats ashore as well as possibly heading out fishing with the outboards.

Today we were kindly lent Håvards van to pick up fuel, there is no shop or fuel station in Harøysund so walking for fuel would take some time! We headed out a bit of sightseeing too, driving over the Atlantic Road, what a road that is!! The road was originally to be a rail line, but as time changed it was realised that cars and buses were becoming the chosen transport and so the road now connects Kristiansund to the mainland through a succession of bridges. Today with calm weather it was interesting to watch the tidal effects we will have to face as we head under the bridges all being well soon with Quickstep.

Our trusty stead, thanks Havard!

We will in many ways be sad to leave Harøysund, while it was never our intention to stay so long, we have been so fortunate in being surrounded by lovely kind people from the boat owners, as well as Håvard, Inge and Frode.
