Engine work and Norwegian buffets!

Waking up at around 11am local time we had recovered from our long journey and now had the task of solving the engine problems. The stickers on our boat had drawn some attention and a few of the locals had came along to offer support, advice and their amazement at what we had done, and what we were aiming to do.
Over the past few months leading up to the beginning of the adventure the engine had basically had a full rebuild thanks to Craigie Engineering, Mitchell's powersytems and Volvo Penta, we couldn't understand what could be causing the problem. It sounded electrical and yet everything from the wiring loom to the spark plugs had been replaced.
With advice from several locals and engineers we worked our way through all the options. After a few hours one of the problems turned out to be horribly simply a bad earth.... That explained why the engine wouldn't turn over after it suddenly stopped, more baffling to us was why it had stopped in the first place.Again after some more work looking inside the new distributor we found some deposits on each point of the new distributor cap. These cleaned off and the engine jumped back in to life and ran perfectly! Parts have been orderd from Volvo Norway kindly phoned through by a friendly local engineer.
After solving one engine our attention turned to the outboard. After taking the remote control apart for the outboard and resetting all cable connections on the outboard itself we have again got the outboard satisfactorily running.
A huge weight off our mind we spent the rest of the day more relaxed, we were kindly invited out for dinner by a gentleman off a neighbouring boat. We were taken to bud and all 6 of us ate at a nice buffet resteraunt. Feeling too embarrassed to ask what some of the foods were we filled our plates hoping not to have mixed main with dessert. The foods were delicious, and our first cooked meal in a few days left us full. We arrived home after a lovely meal with lovely people.
Having an opportunity to tidy the boat ready for living aboard for our time in Norway. The 80ltr inflatable tank that Daniel had been using as a pillow for the past week, we emptied so we could move it out to the deck. As we were doing so we noticed the gentlemen which we had dinner with were putting an engine in their boat and the two Daniels went over to lend a hand.
After that we took our dingy out and headed a mile or so exploring some of the islands nearby stopping on one to celebrate our arrival with a bottle of champagne kindly gifted for our arrival in Norway by Daniel w parents whilst watching the dolphins swimming by.
Taking an hour to try out our fishing skills on the way back to shore the owner of the boat yard came by in his boat on his route home to check we were all safe and not needing another tow! What a stunning place and paople. This journey although in its early stages has left us often amazed at the beauty around us and the loveliness of people.
