Namsos... A beautiful town

This morning we decided to explore Namsos on foot. A great place to spend our 70th day in Norway. Namsos unusually for a town has a 144m 'mountain' right in the town centre. The cliff edge has always been a favourite attraction for tourists to get a birds eye view of life far below. In the last few days an ambitious project funded by many local groups has been finished and we were able to see the stunning views from inside the equally stunning building perched right on the edge. From inside the viewer sees nothing but sweeping views in all directions including straight down!
Moose!

Beautiful statues abound in Namsos... These in wood

The new viewpoint building. Very contemporary design which fits perfectly

Namsos once hosted many sawmills... Now one remains

The old kirk was destroyed in the war, this one replaced it

The rock city... Here pictures of local artists on the shopping centre floor

And more views of the city with the mountain

Early afternoon a surprising email from Brygga Baat Og Fritid, the local chandlery, had us walking the 2 miles to pick up the new anchor. With this now installed on the bow we hope to have less stressful (and more sleepful!) nights on anchor. The old saying that whilst at anchor the quality of sleep is directly proportional to the size of the boats anchor is, we think, most definitely true!

We are really enjoying our stay in Namsos. One of our our favourite towns we have visited... Ever! Every one we meet is so friendly and interested in what we are doing. We will be sad to leave.
